Proper Use of the Caltrans Logo

When an external/non-governmental agency requests the use of the Caltrans logo, the Vendor/Contractor/Consultant must return a signed copy of the Caltrans Logo Permission form (ADM-3046) for their Caltrans contact's files. A license agreement is not required for internal Caltrans or government agency use.

On January 10, 2006, the Caltrans logo was officially registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  The entire Department (all Divisions, Districts, Offices, etc.) are to use the logo with the “R” registered symbol. 

In addition, a notice should be placed at the bottom of website pages and on all marketing and promotional materials that reads:  Caltrans®, the California Department of Transportation® and the Caltrans logo are registered service marks of the California Department of Transportation and may not be copied, distributed, displayed, reproduced or transmitted in any form without prior written permission from the California Department of Transportation.
